Breathe Easy: Reasons To Install A Home Ventilation System

All Posts

Updated: May 23, 2023

As we prepare our homes to retain heat and conserve energy, it can be easy to overlook one important aspect – proper ventilation. If your windows are consistently shut to keep the heat in then it can be difficult to rid your home of dust, smoke and other pollutants.

In this case, it is necessary to install an indoor ventilation system in the form of an extractor fan, an airflow machine or an air conditioner to keep your interior conditions comfortable. This allows you to boost air quality without wasting heat by opening lots of windows.

Peruse this list for a look at the key reasons why you may need ventilation technology in your home.

Air conditioner

Kitchen Smoke

If you’re frying or cooking with hot oils and other substances, then you may need to deal with a smoky kitchen area. Installing an extractor fan or kitchen ventilator is a great way to keep your kitchen air breathable without having to open lots of windows.

Moisture

A warm home can quickly become a damp home, especially if you’re having regular hot showers or drying your laundry inside. This can exacerbate breathing problems and cause different kinds of mould build up, where specialised ventilation can prevent this.

Allergies & Respiratory Conditions

Dust and other debris in the interior of your home can worsen conditions such as asthma, whilst interior pollen or allergens entering the house from outside can exacerbate hay fever symptoms. A ventilation system can ensure the air in your home is fresh and clean to reduce the impacts of these conditions.

Indoor Gases

Naturally occurring gases such as radon could enter your home from the external landscape, whilst carbon monoxide build-up can occur if you regularly light a gas or wood-burning fire. Additionally, fumes from aerosols, cosmetics and other substances can all be managed with proper ventilation.

UK Energy Management: Ventilation Upgrades For Your Home

At UK Energy Management, we can provide you with a number of initiatives designed to save you money on your heating and electrical costs.

One way we do this is by offering funded installation of valve and ventilation systems, including a range of Air-Box products. These systems clean incoming air of pollen, dust and other pollutants, keeping the air in your home fresh without letting heat out.

More broadly, UKEM facilitates the delivery of the government-backed ECO4 funding scheme, which allows eligible households to receive financial support for loft insulation, renewable energy options and replacement boilers. These initiatives can all help to cut the cost of heating your home, keeping energy bills to a minimum.
