Is ECO4 Funding Right For Me?

All Posts

Everybody deserves to live in a house that is comfortable. No cold nights spent worrying about turning on the heating or warm evenings spent in a stuffy, little box instead of a relaxing home. And while in theory every house should be built this way, sometimes they fall short. Heating upgrades can improve the energy efficiency of a home and make it a much more comfortable place to live whilst also reducing the amount you could be paying on bills. However, they can be outside your price range, especially if you are on benefits or other kinds of funding. This is where ECO4 funding comes in. Read on to find out more about ECO4 eligibility and grants in general.

What Is ECO4 Funding?

ECO4 funding is the latest government scheme that aims to support low-income households by providing them with efficient heating and insulation solutions for completely free. It replaced the previous ECO3 scheme and this new iteration covers the installations from April 2022 to March 2026. ECO4 is a government backed scheme that’s primary aim is to help vulnerable households who might suffer due to not having access to adequate heating and insulation. It mainly looks at properties which fall into the efficiency bands E, F and G.

What Can I Get Using The Funding?

Every home is different, and some might be lacking in many different ways than others. This is why ECO4 funding can be used for a wide range of home improvements. This includes the installation or upgrade of insulation, as well as replacing old insulation that might not be energy efficient. It can also cover central heating upgrades, such as installing a new boiler, adding storage heaters or smart controls to help you better manage your energy usage.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for ECO4, you typically have to be on specific types of benefits. Here are a few covered:

● Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) ● Income-related Employment & Support Allowance ● (ESA) Income Support (IS) ● Pension Credit Guarantee Credit ● Working Tax Credit (WTC) ● Child Tax Credits (CTC) ● Universal Credit (UC) ● Housing Benefit (new eligible benefit under ECO4) ● Pension Credit Savings Credit (new eligible benefit under ECO4) ● Child Benefit*
