Making key changes to your property can help to make a house feel like a home, whether you’re building a new conservatory, refitting your bathroom or converting your loft space. A loft conversion in particular can create plentiful room for opportunity in your house, whether you’re looking to construct an extra bedroom or a secluded office space.

But it is important to ensure that your loft space is properly kitted out for all weathers, where this extension on your home needs to be just as comfy and cosy as your downstairs rooms. Read on to find out more about how you can keep your loft space warm all year round.

Loft insulation

Window Glazing

Like any room in your house, your windows provide a key point of escape for heat, especially on a cool winter day. Double or triple glazing uses multiple panes of glass to trap heat between the layers, helping to keep heat inside your home.

Underfloor Heating

If your loft space is particularly chilly, then you may wish to invest in some sophisticated underfloor heating to keep your conversion cosy. You can build this into your flooring as the loft refit is carried out, where this technology will also help to keep your rooms warm below. You can also upgrade to a smart metre to help you control your heating technologies throughout your home at the touch of a button.

Blinds & Curtains

Another easy way to keep your loft space warm is to cover your exposed windows with suitable blinds or curtains. Heavy options provide an extra layer of insulation, such as roman blinds, whilst blackout curtains or blinds can contribute to a better night’s sleep. It is also important to keep your blinds or curtains open on sunny days to allow warmth to enter the room.

Soft Furnishings

Filling your space with soft furnishings instantly makes a room feel warmer, whilst practical additions such as thick rugs and carpets provide an effective layer of additional insulation. Opting for tactile and bulky materials helps to achieve this cosy atmosphere, where plenty of cushions and blankets can quickly transform your new room.

Loft Insulation

It is a well known fact that much of your home’s heat is lost through the roof. Therefore installing proper loft insulation can help to keep this converted space warm whilst saving you money on your household energy bills.
