Five Benefits of Loft Insulation

All Posts

A loft adds valuable extra space to your home, but did you know that approximately 25% of a property’s heat is lost through its roof? Proper loft insulation is important if you want to retain as much heat as possible, but many homeowners don’t consider it a worthwhile investment.

However, just 10cm of loft insulation can reduce heat loss by up to 75% and there are many more benefits to be gained. If you’re thinking about converting your loft or want to upgrade your current insulation, see below for just five benefits of proper loft insulation.

Prevent heat loss

As mentioned, around 25% of your home’s heat is lost through the roof. Loft insulation helps to minimise heat loss by creating a thermal barrier, which stops heat from rising and disappearing through the roof.

You can expect a 25% reduction in heat loss if you install loft insulation and it helps to regulate the overall temperature of your home too. This means it will be warmer in winter and cooler in summer, so you can stay comfortable all year round.

Save money on energy bills

Loft insulation could save you an average of £110 on your energy bills every year. Insulation also lasts for around 40 years so it will pay for itself several times over! If you’re worried about the cost, you can see if you are eligible for fully funded loft insulation through the government’s ECO3 scheme.

Noise reduction

Insulation can also help to reduce noise pollution so you can enjoy a quieter, more peaceful home. You should see a noticeable reduction in outside noise, especially in the upper levels of your home.

Better for the environment

Many of us are becoming more aware of our carbon footprint and taking conscious steps to reduce it. Adding loft insulation makes your home more energy efficient, and the less energy you use, the less carbon dioxide you produce. This is much better for the environment and a great way to reduce your carbon footprint with minimal effort.

Increase your home’s value

Loft insulation gives you a higher rating for your home’s Energy Performance Certificate. A higher rating can boost the value of your home and increase the chances of a quick sale if you’re planning to move in the near future.

Worried about the cost of loft insulation? Don’t be – you may be eligible for fully funded loft insulation so get in touch with the team at UK Energy Management (NE) Ltd to find out more. We can source high heat retention storage heaters or install loft insulation at zero cost to you as part of the government’s ECO3 scheme. To see if you’re eligible for fully funded loft insulation, give us a call today or fill out the quick and easy form on our website.
